Training?

Postby mdlave on Sat Jan 30, 2010 4:23 pm

I'm interested in some defensive pistol training, and trying to decide where the best place is to spend my money.
I know of several apparently great programs and sites from the other board, but I wonder if board members here have any strong recommendations.
I've heard of a place called Rattlesnake Ridge in Clarksville, but have not seen any mention of it on gun boards. Any info on them?

Sounds like a candidate for IDPA practice.
It isn't "tactical training" but it does offer practice in all those.

Plus, you get to view different syles, people using semi-autos and revolvers. Some revolver shooters can get through a stage quicker than the SA's.

I shot in my first IDPA match a couple of weeks ago out in Dickson. It was awesome and I had a great time. I'm hooked. ;)

Glad to hear it!

IDPA & USPSA are certainly not training but they do give you a place to use some practical skills under the pressure of a clock

Call Steve Shelton at this site, and have him sign you up for our Intermediate class. When we get enough folks, the class will give you the skills you are looking for. This class will be revolver friendly. ;)

Yours truly will train the class. Cost will be $100, and we will shoot about 200 rounds. Most all time will be on the range, around 4-5 hrs.

Bring strong side hip holster on a good belt, two extra mags or two speed loaders/strips in holders.
