Palinophobia

Postby mdlave on Fri Feb 05, 2010 8:21 pm

So, I'm a 28yo guy who thinks he is fairly in touch with his generation. Maybe not.
Anybody have thoughts on the intense fear/hatred that many "progressive" 20somethings have towards Palin?
More conservative and obnoxious politicians have come and gone without all the fuss and multitude of Facebook anti-pages that seem to follow Palin.
It seems to be most prevalent among single 20something professional women and the guys still trying desperately to impress them.
I get it during an election year, but in the absence of any stated plans for future office, the obsession and lynch mob approach continues.
White guilt? Being a successful female who doesn't have a hangup with gender roles?

That, and the fear of a conservation politican who actually seems to have a normal life and is touch with the value system that non-professional politicos fear and can't comprehend.

Also, she has a gun.

And is fearless. It was a pretty good speech on Saturday night. I'm also glad the teaparty convention appears to have turned out alright despite the controversy about its for-profit status.

She is smart and ambitious, but overall...not presidential material in my book.

Nothing to get excited about, but at the same time not with vilifying. I don't see why people gushed over her in the first place. She would have made a great governor if she could actually have completed her term.

I agree, not my pick for President. But as the Conservative bomb thrower-she's a winner.

Amen, Brother Rightwinger. We didn't know we had it so good back then. When even some Dems/Progressives start praising his accomplishments and uttering his name revently instead of as a cuss word, you know its bad. But maybe some hope on the horizon. :(
